CMA to Implement National Instant Payment System in Uzbekistan

Stockholm / Tashkent — CMA Small Systems AB is implementing a national Instant Payment System (IPS) in the Republic of Uzbekistan, supporting the country’s transition toward real-time digital payments and further modernization of its payment infrastructure.

The new platform will enable 24/7 instant transfers between banks and payment service providers, creating the foundation for a new generation of payment services for individuals, businesses, and government. Once operational, the system will become an important component of the national financial infrastructure, supporting faster and more efficient domestic payments.

The platform is built on CMA’s Instant Payments technology, designed to support the evolving needs of modern payment ecosystems. The system incorporates ISO 20022 messaging standards, modern API-based connectivity, and a scalable architecture that enables long-term development of the national payments landscape.

The system is also designed with future integration in mind. Its architecture allows connectivity with both CMA and non-CMA national and regional infrastructures, enabling future cross-border payment capabilities and supporting emerging payment instruments and new payment rails.

The project reflects CMA’s continued commitment to supporting the development of payment infrastructures globally and across Central Asia. In the region, CMA has worked with central banks and national payment operators in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan, contributing to the modernization of national financial infrastructures.

Maxim Neshcheret, Regional Director for Asia-Pacific and Central Asia at CMA, commented:

“Instant payment systems are becoming a core component of modern financial infrastructures. They enable faster domestic payments while creating the foundation for broader ecosystem development and future cross-border connectivity.
CMA’s vision is to support countries in building resilient national infrastructures that can evolve into regional payment networks. We have seen similar developments in other regions, including Africa through systems such as BEAC, BCEAO and COMESA, and in the Middle East through initiatives like AFAQ and BUNA.”

CMA looks forward to continuing its cooperation with partners in Uzbekistan and contributing to the development of a modern, resilient and interoperable national payments ecosystem.
